Teheran Learns to Speak with Taliban.
As of this December, 40 years will have
passed since the invasion of Afghanistan by
the Ussr a duration that correlates with
just about the entire life span of the
Islamic Republic of Iran. During those four
decades Tehran has worked within the
borders of its turbulent eastern neighbor
to defend and project its interests. Iran's
policies in Afghanistan did not draw the
attention of the international arena.
